‘Female heart patients more susceptible than their male counterparts’

Dibrugarh, Feb 2: “The female heart patients are more susceptible than their male counterparts because they are not being so familiar with the early symptoms of cardiac ailment. One out of three women with cardiac disease  passes away due to lack of adequate awareness and timely treatment,”  said renowned cardiologist and founder president of a registered NGO,  Heart Care Society of Assam, Dr Nirmal Kanti Bhattacharjee while  addressing an awareness programme on Women Health Care organized by Dibrugarh Ladies Club (DLC) at Gymkha Club here on Thursday.

Dr Bhattacharjee in his deliberation highlighted the various aspects of cardiovascular diseases in women, particularly their causes, consequences and the action plan for preventing, surviving and living after a heart attack. Former vice-president Suman Poddar and Kalpa Khound felicitated the guest. The programme was well attended by the members of various other organizations, besides members of DLC.

Earlier, the president of Dibrugarh Ladies Club, Dr Aditi Barua welcomed all the guests and introduced Dr Bhattacharjee to the august gathering. The programme was well coordited by secretary Ritu Barua, treasurer Puja Goenka and joint secretary Priti Karwa. Vice president of DLC, Jurima Chaliha offered the vote of thanks.
