Female Journalist physically assaulted inside a roadside eatery in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA: A woman e-media journalist was allegedly molested and another woman was physically assaulted by a few intoxicated goons inside a roadside eatery on Thursday evening located at Tinsukia Bypass after they asked the boys not to use vulgar and abusive languages. The journalist along with her husband went to the dhaba for dinner.

According to reports, the woman journalist Upasana Baruah Goswami was confronted by these goons in the presence of her husband and touched her in an inordinate manner. Immediately the owner of dhaba Rashmirekha Borah came to her rescue who was in turn physically thrashed by these teens. The police on being informed picked the boys. On the basis of an FIR, the accused have been arrested and forwarded to court.

Meanwhile, the Tinsukia District Journalists’ Association (TDJA) along with press clubs of Tinsukia, Sadiya, Kakopathar, Digboi, Doomdooma, Margherita and Saikhowa have strongly condemned the incident and demanded stringent punishment to the culprits. The TDJA along with these press clubs also condemned the assault on Rajen Deka and demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh besides suitable treatment to him.
