Ferndez assures protection to NE students in Delhi

Itagar, Sept 6: Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Ferndez has assured to protect and provide all possible means of assistance, guidance and safety for students of Northeast in New Delhi.

He was interacting with the students of Aruchal Pradesh in an interactive programme for students from Aruchal studying in New Delhi with the members of All India Congress Committee and tiol Students Union of India on Monday at Aruchal house, New Delhi.

Earlier, the students’ leaders from various communities of the state raised various issues and expressed their strong voice against increase in racial discrimition, rent problems, security and safety of tribal students in Delhi, a press release informed here today.

The students proposed for ecting Racial Discrimition Acts, Rent Control Acts, and Hostel facilities for North East students and to do away with Hindi as a compulsory subject in Delhi University.

Secretary AICC in-charge NSUI, Girish Choudankar also assured to reserve an NSUI ticket to a student from Northeast for next Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) election.

This would let the whole tion know about the talents and efficiency of people from northeast, he added.

AICC member and former MP, Takam Sanjoy and NSUI, State- General Secretary, Wangpho Arangham also spoke during the function.

In the programme convened by NSUI state unit Aruchal Pradesh, scores of students turned up and expressed their persol views and opinion for the interests and welfare of students’ community in Delhi, the release added.
