Festival of Science Learning organized at Kaliabor College

KALIABOR, April 11: Kaliabor College organized the ‘Festival of Science Learning’ on March 20 to 22. In this innovative programme intensive learning in theory and practical on selected topics of Major courses of Physics and Botany were conducted. 230 students and 30 teachers of five different colleges of Assam, mely, Kaliabor, Digboi, Chaiduar, bajyoti and Jagiroad took part in the festival.

The programme was organized under Star College Scheme and Biotech Hub scheme of Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India. The aim of the festival is to increase knowledge and confidence among science students by providing opportunity of group learning from experienced teachers from different institutions.

The students of different colleges were taught in groups of different semesters and different subjects. Teaching and practical demonstration on recent and tough topics done by experienced teachers from these colleges as well as guest teachers.

An interactive and cultural session was also organized in the evening of March 21 to give opportunity of exploring mutual co-curricular activities. Students of all participating colleges perform cultural items in the session. One hour invited drama programme was also done by B. Voc. Acting department of Jagiroad College.

The festival was iugurated by Dr. Biren Das, Registrar of Tezpur University. He expressed deep satisfaction over organization of such festival. He also elaborated different schemes and opportunities for science students. He praised the infrastructure available in Kaliabor College and said that the college has been doing the role of a rural university. Principal Dr. Hiranya Kr Chaliha gave the welcome address. Prabhat Chandra Goswami, President of Governing Body of Kaliabor College and Dr. Dip Kumar Saikia, Principal of Digboi College also attended the Iugural Session of the Festival.
