Festive fever grips Sivasagar

JOYSAGAR, Dec 30: To celebrate the New Year, Sivasagar district administration, in association with the District Tourism Development Department, has come up with two big events - one to be held in Desangmukh while other in the historic Charaidew Maidam near Sori town.
 In Desangmukh, preparations are on to celebrate the Desang-Brahmaputra Festival from December 31, 2017 to January 7, 2018. In this festival, the organizers and administration will mainly focus on the old cultural heritage of Assam and for this various ethnic communities will take part in the festival. Besides several sports, river thrills and ethnic food festivals have been planned. The president of the organizing committee and also Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar rayan Konwar laid the lai-khuta of the Desang-Brahmaputra Festival, 2018 on December 27 in presence of veteran delegates of the organizing committee on the bank of the mighty Brahmaputra at Matmora Ghat of Desangmukh.
 On the other hand, Charaidew district administration, in association with the District Tourism Development Department, will organize the Charaidew Mahotsava fromJanuary 3 till January 7.
