FIDAM rejects government claim

FROM OPUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT

IMPHAL, APRIL 17: Families of the Involuntarily Disappeared’s Association Manipur (FIDAM) has rejected the Government’s latest claim  that the CBI refused to take over the investigation into the recovery of  eight human skulls and other skeletons  from Tombisa High School complex.

It may be mentioned that reports of Government to hand over the case to a central investigation agency like CBI or NIA were published in newspapers of Manipur. However, now the High Court of Manipur has issued notice to the CBI on the question of its noncommittal act in pursuance to the Government of Manipur’s request for taking up investigation.

FIDAM questioned the State Government’s silence till date about CBI’s refusal in investigating the case.

It may be recalled that on Thursday the chief minister Okram Ibobi announced that the union home ministry had written a letter informing the state government that the CBI shall not take over the investigation of the skull recovery case.
