Film against capital punishment to be screened

GUWAHATI, May 24: An extraordinary short film against capital punishment by internationally acclaimed Polish film maker Krzysztof Kieslowski will be screened at the Guwahati Press Club on Friday for the benefit of its members. Carrying a strong message against capital punishment practiced by different countries (including India), the feature film was released in 1988. It has cinematography by Slawomir Idziak and music by Zbigniew Preisner.

It may be noted that no European director of recent years was admired as Kieslowski. Of course, he had to wait many years for the recognition outside Poland. The hour-long movie was originally made for Polish television. Based on an emotional story, the film was instrumental in the abolition of death penalties in Poland long back.
