DHUBRI: Dhubri-Kolkata Sanmilani, in its annual get-together, extended financial assistance to 39 poor and meritorious students at a function held at Dhubri Hari Sabha premises recently. Dhubri-Kolkata Sanmilani is an organization formed with people who had once lived in Dhubri for years but had to leave and settle in Kolkata and abroad due to various reasons.

Though they have been living far away from Dhubri, yet they feel deeply about the days they had spent in the town or in the district and the Sanmilani is making an effort since the last nine years to unite them at least once a year either in Kolkata or in Dhubri to reminisce and share the memories of yesteryears.

A large number of old residents settled in Kolkata and abroad came to Dhubri and spent two days and visited various places of tourist interest, attended cultural function organized by the Sanmilani and extended donation to poor and meritorious students. Beside donation to the students studying in various schools of Dhubri town, the Sanmilani also felicitated two artists - Sanjib Basak and Pradip Ghose for their creative works. Many distinguished citizens of Dhubri town, including renowned numismatist Sankar Kumar Bose and eminent scientist Dr. Sanat Kumar Saha graced the occasion and shared their feelings. The annual session will be held in January 13 at Nicco Park in Kolkata, a Sanmilani source said.
