Fire and emergency services station building iugurated

MARGHERITA, March 29: The newly constructed fire and emergency services station building was iugurated on Sunday at 1 Number Makum Pather, Margherita.

This building is the 36th such building among the 48 projects taken up for construction of fire and emergency services station buildings in different places of Assam during the years 2009-10, 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-2013 by the State Govrnment in order to upgrade and modernize infrastructural facilities of the five-decade old State Fire Service Organization, Assam.

The newly constructed building has the provision for keeping two fire tenders, a 5-storey drill-cum-hose drying tower, rain water harvesting system with water reservoir of 1-lakh litre capacity and a well developed compound to house round-the-clock firemen on duty. The estimated cost of the building is Rs 1.63 crore.

The iuguration programme was presided over by senior citizen of 1 Number Makum Pather, Sarat Gogoi, with Paragjyoti Baruah, Superintendent of Police-cum-fire and emergency service advisor as chief guest. Tarun Dehingia, Inspector of Fire & Emergency Services, Dibrugarh, Hironya Kumar Borah, Officer in Charge of Margherita Police Station, AR Mondal, Block Development Officer, Margherita and local people of Margherita also attended the programme.

Paragjyoti Baruah said that fire and emergency service was an important department and the motto should be to give the best service to the people. He appealed to the people of Margherita to call at the emergency telephone number is case of any emergency. Baruah also iugurated the building.
