Fire destroys 18 houses in Aruchal

From A Correspondent

Itagar, March 19: A massive fire devoured eighteen dwellings at Lower Dibang Valley district of Aruchal Pradesh last evening, police said.

The incident occurred at a Model Village in Roing, the district headquarters. The dwellings were under District Urban Development Agency (DUDA).

The wind-aided fire spread quickly to the closely built houses and reduced all the 18 houses to ashes before the fire fighters brought the flame under control after hours of rigorous efforts. However, there were no casualties reported. The fire is suspected to have started from an uttended fireplace, the police said. Roing Fire Station in-charge Kasem Tayeng informed that strong winds made it difficult for the fire fighters to contain the blaze.
