Fire destroys property worth Rs 30 lakh

Jorhat, March 6: Twenty two houses were gutted in a massive fire in Sivasagar district yesterday. Houses of Nurul Bhuyan, Iyasin Ali, Chiraj Ali and several others were reduced to ashes. Various goods like furniture and jewellery costing over Rs 30 lakh were damaged in the incident.  Four people were also injured while trying to retrieve their goods during the fire. Former student leader Ahidur Jaman Choudhury has taken the initiative to provide temporary shelter to the people who had lost their homes.
