Fire devours eight dwellings

Itagar, Nov 17: Houses of Sorang Taha and Margang Tabang were on Wednesday morning completely reduced to ashes in a devastating fire which broke out at the forest cooperation colony here. Entire properties of the house owners including two motor bikes were totally gutted, police said.

A team of Aruchal Youth Congress (APYC) led by its president Jikke Tako and vice president Niglar Veo visited the victims and provided immediate relief materials.

The APYC team also assured to conduct social service for temporary arrangement for the homeless victims.

“Had the fire brigade team reached in time, the mishap could have been curbed to some extent and some properties could have been saved,” said a statement from the Youth Congress who also appealed the department concerned to remain alert and prepared all the time.

The APYC has also appealed the State government to provide immediate relief to the victims.

Meanwhile, six houses including, an RCC building, 2 Government Type-II SPT quarters, an OBT kitchen, shop and a hut were completely destroyed in a devastating fire which broke out at Sagalee town under Papum Pare district in the midnight of November 14 last.

According to Papum Pare ADC Jalash Pertin no human casualty was reported in the incident.

However, the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, he added.
