First broad gauge diesel engine rolled

GUWAHATI, Dec 30: After successful completion and commission of first phase of Lumding-Silchar GC section, one diesel broad gauge engine was rolled on successfully on Tuesday from Badarpur station (Assam) to Ambassa station (Tripura), a distance of 160 Km on newly converted line.

It is to be mentioned that a 6-month mega block has been taken from  October 1,2015 to March 31,2016 to complete the 2nd phase gauge conversion work of Lumding-Silchar GC project from Badarpur to Agartala and other link lines. Railway is confident to open the entire section for passenger services from Badarpur to Agartala with effect from April, 2016.

During this maiden run, enthusiastic onlookers in thousand  numbers stopped and welcomed the Broad Gauge Engine at every station and greeted the railway officials. Ravindra Ram, Chief Engineer/Con-4, and Harpal Singh, Chief Engineer/Con-8, N.F.Railway and other senior officials were present in the trial run on the newly converted section. This was stated in a press release.
