First phase of pulse polio immunization conducted in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, January 28: Aiming to embrace 1, 90,057 children of Dibrugarh district under the Pulse- Polio Vaccition Mission in the age of group of 0-5 years, the first phase of the vaccition drive was carried out recently,

The mission was formally launched by the ADC Anjabh Chaliha at a function organized at the premises of Dibrugarh State Dispensary, where Chaliha administered two drops of polio vaccition to a child.

Later, will addressing the function,  the ADC stated that even though India had been declared as a polio free country, yet the possible presence of this disease in the neighbouring countries of Afghanistan and Pakistan, had stressed the importance of the polio vaccition drive to be carried forward.  He further stated that the role of parents of children between the age group of 0-5 years was important.

Significantly, for the successful implementation of the polio drive, 916 booths had been set up.

The iugural function was attended amongst others by the Sub divisiol Health Officer, Dr bajyoti Gogoi, tiol Health Mission District Programme Mager, Manisha Buragohain, District Vaccition Officer Dr. Suniti Gogoi and the doctors and employees of the State dispensary.

The second phase of the Pulse-Polio Vaccition camp would be conducted in February 21.
