Five IMC chairpersons quit

From Our Correspondent
Itagar, June 20: Five chairpersons of the Itagar Municipal Council (IMC) resigned on Monday accusing IMC chief councillor Kipa Kaku of not maintaining transparency and accountability while discharging duty. The five are Biri Tugdo, Tarh Mohan, Pakyum Tagung, Yumlam Minu and B Jumi Teli. Also alleging Kaku of misappropriating funds allotted to the IMC for development activities, the chairpersons said many IMC councillors had during IMC’s 12th business meeting on August 14 last year questioned the audit report placed by Kaku and development activities carried out under her. Kaku did not answer the questions and accepted her mistakes in front of the entire committee, the chairpersons said. The chief councillor, however, denied the allegations and said there were vested interests working against her.“I have not received their resigtion letter yet and as they are seeking answers, I’ll give them all in white paper,” she told reporters.
