Five poachers in cop's net at Digboi, six guns recovered

DIGBOI, March 14:  Police on Friday night arrested five hardened wildlife poachers at Digboi in Tinsukia district with two motor cycles and six rifles. Acting on a tip-off,  Digboi police arrested the group from Lakshi Pathar area.  The arrested five poachers have been identified as Pulak Gogoi and Rantu Gogoi of Lakshi Pathar Kapauhua village under Digboi police station,  Ratan Gogoi of Pandhoa village and Deshbahadur Lama and Kancha Lama of Makum Killa area under Margherita police station in Tinsukia district, police sources said.   Police have interrogated the persons for more information.  "Desh Bahadur has already confessed during interrogation that he was involved in elephant poaching in Digboi area," said a police official.  The police official said that the accused are habitual offenders and must be frequenting the area but have been caught for the first time.  SP Tinsukia And Parkash Tiwari and DC Tinsukia Puru Gupta while talking to the Sentinel had expressed concerned over the reported alleged killing of wildlife from various location of  Digboi  Wildlife Division recently and had deployed various  administrative resources to combat the mece of poaching in the  the District. According to  Gupta, the drive had started and the entire network of the poachers would be busted very soon.
