The Kamrup Metropolitan district administration along with the Food and Civil Supplies department and Consumer Affairs Department set up a team of five to inspect, monitor and check prices of essential commodities in Guwahati. The five teams will specifically focus on the raising price of potatoes and onion in the city.
Despite of the administration’s effort, the increasing price of onion is making a big hole in the consumers’ pockets. The administration has fixed the price of onion at Rs. 40 per kg but it is being sold at Rs. 50 or more than that in different part of the city.
Each team will inspect particular localities of Guwahati and will be operate under the charge of an executive magistrate.
