Five students of Darrang among HSLC toppers

MANGALDAI, May 31: Five students of Darrang district have brought laurels to the district as they successfully made their entry to the list of top 20 in the HSLC examition under Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA).

Zahid Mustafa of Happy Child English School in Sipajhar claimed the 10th rank with total marks 576, Bibek Bhuyan of Jatiya Vidyalaya, Sipajhar in 15th rank with 571 marks, Nekib Zaved of Bhupendra rayan Dev Jatiya Vidyalaya, Mangaldai in 16th rank with 570 marks (100 marks in Advance Mathematics), Raktim Jyoti Bharadwaj of Sipajhar Higher Secondary and Multi Purpose School in 17th rank with 569 marks and Bhitali Koushik of gaon Anchalik High School in Dipila area of Sipajhar area claimed the 18th rank with 568 marks (100 marks in General Mathematics). The gaon Anchalik High School was provincialized only in 2013. A total of 21 examinees secured the highest marks in different subjects.

In the HSLC examition, 2016, a total of 10,070 students appeared from 165 high schools of which 135 are provincialized and 30 schools are venture and a total of 1,917 students secured first division, 3,092 secured second division while 1,822 secured third division. Darrang district secured the 10th position (67.84 per cent) in the State against the overall percentage of 62.79 per cent of the State.

In the Assam High Madrassa Examition, a total of 693 students appeared of which 98 secured first division, 227 secured second division and 153 students secured third division with overall percentage of 72.96 per cent. Inspector of Schools of Darrang district, Sadulla Khan on Tuesday visited the schools of the five rank holders and congratulated them for their achievement.
