SHILLONG, May 16: The president of Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Mawryngkneng Circle, Kynsai War on Monday criticised Lyngskor Lyngdoh, BDO of Mawryngkneng, alleging that he resorted to political vendetta by seizing the coal laden trucks of his relatives.

It may be reminded that on May 14 last police arrested War on charges of illegally transporting coal and violating the tiol Green Tribul (NGT) ban. He was arrested soon after the truck ferrying the coal was seized by the BDO of Mawryngkneng at Thangshalai, Shillong By-Pass. The truck belongs to one Manbhalang but it is being run by War. He was later released on bail.

Addressing newsmen here on Monday, War said, “Following our complaint filed against the BDO regarding the irregularities of IAY scheme being implemented in Mawryngkneng to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills on April 20, the BDO took it persolly and seized all coal laden trucks belonging to my relatives.”

He stated that the BDO filed an FIR against him when he approached the Police Station at Mawryngkneng to attend to his relatives as well as his brother whose truck was seized on May 14.

“His allegations are baseless and fabricated when he (the BDO) said that the challan is blank as checking is done at the integrated check gate at Umling,” he said.

He questioned the BDO’s intentions to seize the trucks of his relatives only while there are numerous trucks plying on the road and stated that the BDO took the complaint on a persol note.

“The FIR filed is meant to malign my image as we have tried to work for the service of the down trodden as regarding the implementation of the IAY scheme he did not consult the village heads for choosing the beneficiaries,” he said. The BDO had sent War a showcause notice on April 25 as well.
