Flood creates havoc in Aruchal district

ITAGAR, May 18: Flood triggered by torrential rain in the past few days, has created havoc in msai district of Aruchal Pradesh with the Noa Dehing River flowing above the danger mark inundating several areas in the district, particularly New Silatoo and mpong villages. Flood water inundated Mahadevpur-I, Mahadevpur-IV and Kakoni village besides submerging paddy fields, an official report informed here today.
Five bamboo spurs out of 14 constructed on May 10 last were completely washed away by flood water at New Silatoo threatening the Mahadevpur town. Water Resources Development (WRD) officials are constantly monitoring the situation. A few portions of the river bank at New Silatoo are severely damaged.
Earthen embankment and spur at mpong village in Piyong circle are badly affected by the Noa-Dehing flood water, the report added.
