Flood scene in Assam critical, 3 dead in Golaghat as Dhansiri River Overflows

Guwahati: The flood scene in the State became critical on Thursday with 1,05,782 people in 224 villages across 18 revenue circles in eight districts reeling under flood fury even as three people lost their lives in flood fury across the state.

The rivers flowing above the danger level were Brahmaputra, Dikhow, Dhansiri, Jia Bharali, and Beki.

Meanwhile, three persons lost lives in floods with one each in Dhemaji, Udalguri, and Golaghat. The cumulative death as on Thursday is 38 in floods, and three in landslides.

The eight affected districts are Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Udalguri, Barpeta, Golaghat, Sivasagar, and Charaideo. The highest number of villages affected was 24 in Lakhimpur across four revenue circles.

Altogether 20,869 people are taking shelter in relief camps with 20,205 inmates in Golaghat and 664 in Sivasagar.

The district administrations have initiated all measures to tackle emergency situations.
