FROM A CORRESPONDENT

Golaghat, July 11: In Golaghat the flood situation is grim. The increasing level of water of the three tributaries Dhansiri, Ghiladhari and Doyang has worsened the flood situation. Several villages under Ghiladhari Revenue Circle in Golaghat have been badly affected due to breakdown of embankment of Ghiladhari River. Hundreds of families had to leave their homes seeking shelter. The villagers of Bamungaon, Bosa Bhoroluwa, Salikihat, Gowaltup and Baruahgaon are suffering a lot as their crops and paddy fields have been severely hit by the floods. Meanwhile, a person lost his life in flood at Merapani subdivision in the district. The district administration has set up two relief camps for flood-hit people under Golaghat and Khumtai LACs.
