SILCHAR, Dec 29: The distribution of food grains under tiol Food Security Act was launched at Lakhipur in Cachar from December 28. While complaints have come from other parts of this valley about anomalies and irregularities on the matter, Lakhipur subdivision has been quite committed to the provisions of the Act. At a function held in Pailapool community hall which was presided over by the SDO (Civil) T T Daulagupu. D K Roy, inspector, food, civil supply and consumer affairs, welcomed the invitees who included gaon panchayat secretaries and fair price shop agents.
D K Roy pointed out that it is through the implementation of such a noble and welfare scheme that the larger interests of common people can be better served. All out efforts have to be made with the cooperation of all those at stake to make the scheme a success. If and when any complaints are received, these will be redressed as far as possible and practicable, he added to say. Also present on the occasion were Rajdeep Goala, MLA, Rimi Paul, chairperson, municipal board, and J Doloi, sub-inspector, food and civil supply.
MLA Goala said the state government under Tarun Gogoi is always committed to ensure that the poor and the margilized people are covered by maximum welfare schemes and projects. “It is for the support of the people in general of the state that Congress has been in reign of power for the last 15 years. As a part of the continuous welfare drive of the government, food security priority house holder cards across the state have been distributed from December 28,” he said.
Under this scheme, family having annual income of less than Rs.1 lakh is entitled to get rice at Rs.3 per kg.
There are a total of 52,040 card holders in Lakhipur sub division of which 6765 come under Antyodaya An Yoja (AAY) and 45,275 under priority house holder cards. The total population of the subdivision is 2,42,205. Rajdeep Goala distributed the cards among 200 families. T T Daulagupu summing up said no programme or scheme or project of the state can be successful unless there is the wholehearted cooperation of the beneficiaries and people in general. The administration on its part will always be alert and alive to the expectations of the beneficiaries and meet them.
