Ford India closes 2015 with 15 per cent volume growth

Cheni, Jan 1: Ford India on Friday said its total sales for last month came down by 3,536 units to 10,865 units while the overall sales for the year went up by 15 percent. The company had sold 14,401 units in December 2014.

In a statement, the company said it ended 2015 selling 175,858 units up from 154,121 units sold in 2014.

“Domestic wholesales in the past year remained steady at 77,715 vehicles compared to 77,140 units in 2014 while exports rose to 99,143 vehicles from 76,981 units for the same period,” the statement said.

As to the December 2014 sales, Ford India said due to recent floods in Cheni, the total vehicle sales stood at 10,865 units down from 14,401 units sold in December 2014.

“Domestic wholesales stood at 5,924 units from 3,754 units a year ago. Exports in December declined to 4,941 units compared to 10,647 units in December 2014,” Ford India said.

“(The year) 2015 has been a good year for Ford. We launched our new plant in Sand, strengthened our product portfolio with the launch of Aspire and Figo, increased our exports, expanded our sales and service network including parts distributors across the country and welcomed more employees and customers to the Ford family,” Anurag Mehrotra, executive director, marketing, sales and service was quoted as saying in the statement.  (IANS)
