Foreign secretary NE Essara surrenders, NDFB (S) expels him from outfit

KOKRAJHAR: In a major setback for the NDFB (B. Saoraigwra faction), foreign secretary NE Essara surrendered before the security forces recently along with his bodyguard.

In a statement to a section of media, the president of the NDFB (S), B. Saoraigwra said the surrender of the foreign secretary of the outfit recently in Mon district before the security forces would not harm the unity and discipline of the NDFB. He said on March 23, the national council of the NDFB held a meeting to discuss the serious mental problem and violation of the constitution of the NDFB by Essara and resolved to expel him from the party.

Sources said some of the top leaders and around 28 hardcore NDFB (S) cadres had left the outfit due to heavy operation carried out by the Myanmar army recently. Temporary camps of many banned militants groups of the Northeast were demolished and large cache of arms and ammunitions were seized. Around 18- 22 Northeast militants were killed by the Myanmar security forces and NSCN, ULFA and others militants were apprehended by the Myanmar security forces. NE Esara and his personal bodyguard R. Mwnthwr surrendered before security forces recently.
