Forest mafia attempt to kill forest officials in Samaguri

GAON (HAIBORGAON), May 4: A gang of forest mafias on Wednesday night allegedly attempted to kill forest guards and officials through a pre-planned road accident when the sleuths were on the way to apprehend a pick-up van laden with illegal timber logs near Padumani Bortula village under Samaguri police station.

But luckily, the sleuths survived after leaping into a deep pond. According to the sources of forest department, the sleuths led by Prab Kr Bora had an intelligent input and on the basis of the input, on Wednesday night they went to Padumani Bartula village and the sleuths traced a pick-up van which was laden with illegal timber logs. When the sleuths followed the vehicle, another pick-up van hit the vehicle of the sleuths and as a result, the vehicle along with its passengers fell into a deep pond. Luckily all the people survived.

 In the pre-planned road mishap, the vehicle (AS02T-8576) was heavily damaged. Interestingly, soon after the accident, the suspected vehicle fled away in the dark, the sources added further. On the other hand, on Thursday morning another group of forest officials rushed to the spot and launched a massive search operation in the nearby areas in search of the suspected vehicle.
