Forest minister seeks cooperation in protecting wildlife in KNP

BOKAKHAT, February 9: For the greater interest of protection and conservation of wildlife in Kaziranga tiol Park (KNP), Forest Minister Atuwa Munda interacted with the villagers of Japori Pather, Tamuly Pather and Sukani Gaon on the boundary of KNP on Sunday  without being accompanied by any forest officials. The Minister talked with the villagers with a view to minimizing the gap between villagers and the Forest Department.

Munda said that the Forest Department would be modernized soon and he sought help and cooperation of the villagers in protection and conservation of the world famous one-horned rhino in Kaziranga. He declared an award of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who provides information about poachers.

The Minister also visited a few forest camps and exchanged views with the forest guards and encouraged them to perform their duties courageously and sincerel. Attending the Shirish Festival in Hatikhuli Tea Estate, Munda appealed to tea garden owners, tea officials  and labourers to extend their cooperation in protection and conservation of wildlife in Kaziranga tiol Park.
