Forever Young to organize ‘Midnight Swim’

SHILLONG, Dec 26: A group of people in the city will have a unique way of heralding the New Year. For the 20th year, the Forever Young will organise the ‘Midnight Swim’ to welcome 2017.

According to the president of the Forever Young club, the Midnight Swim will be held on December 31 at the Saw Aiom Swimming Pool, Shyiap locality in the city.

As per a statement issued by the club, the event is to welcome the New Year and as well as to encourage young and genuine voters to take part in the electoral process in the state and the country.

“About 100 blocks of ice, each weighing 50 kgs will be put inside the pool to make the event more challenging,” the statement said.

 Syiem also requested the participants not to consume intoxicants before the event else the challenge of the event would be lost.
