Former AAPSU leader passes away

Itagar, April 1: Former All Aruchal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) leader Darasing Tayeng passed away at Bakin Pertin Memorial General Hospital, Pasighat in East Siang district on Saturday evening following prolonged illness, family sources said.

He is survived by his wife Miti Libang and a daughter.

The condition of Tayeng, who was suffering from cancer for the last two years, has deteriorated considerably. His family members shifted him from RK Mission Hospital to Pasighat for further treatment.

Fondly called Dara Bhaiya, Tayeng served the apex students’ organization in different capacities such as IPR secretary, convener, vice-president and speaker for a long time.

His mortal remains was laid to rest at his tive village, Motum under Mebo circle on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the AAPSU has deeply mourned the demise of Darasing Tayeng. In a condolence message, AAPSU president Hawa Bagang termed his death as a huge loss to the union and the State as a whole.

“Late Tayeng served the union sincerely for a long time. On his death, we have lost a great youth icon of the State,” Bagang said.

“I had a long association with him since my foray into student activism. He had a long stint in AAPSU in different capacities. AAPSU will always remember his contributions to the students’ community of the State,” said AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai.

The union further prayed for the eterl peace of the departed soul.
