Former ACKHSA President Pradip Dutta Roy Slams West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and her TMC Team

Special Correspondent

Silchar : Former ACKHSA President Pradip Dutta Roy, and a High Court advocate, has slammed Mamata Banerjee for sending a team of 8 TMC Parliamentarians and a minister to Silchar, knowing fully well that in the aftermath of the publication of second NRC draft, as a precaution, the district administration of Cachar has promulgated 144 CrPC in order to preempt any breach of peace.

He attributed a political design behind their visit to gain political mileage by winning the sympathy of the linguistic and religious minorities. He said her vote-bank politics in West Bengal has been brazenly exposed.

Dutta Roy added to say TMC has neither any base nor any organizational set up. By sending a team of Parliamentarians, Mamata Banerjee wanted to set the foot of TMC in Assam as a whole. The district administration of Cachar has taken the wisest course of action by detaining the TMC team at Silchar airport and sending them back bag and baggage. It has also been reported in the media that the Trinamool supremo has planned to send a two member fact finding team comprising Jaswant Singh and Shatrughan Sinha, BJP rebels, to Assam for stoking the flame of communal tension by creating rift between the Bengalis and Assamese.

Pradip Dutta Roy would urge upon the State administration to have a close watch on the movement of any TMC team to Brahmaputra Valley and Barak Valley. In any circumstances, the prevailing peace should not be allowed to be disturbed. This is all the more important in the interest of peace, tranquility and communal harmony. He admitted there has been lot of anomalies and errors in the publication of the second draft. Even the names of indigenous people, Dimasa, Manipuri and tea tribe have been left out.

Discontentment and displeasure, former ACKHSA president, said is quite natural. Besides, in preparing the list, there have also been errors as the names of parents or the names of their sons and daughters are missing. There has been lot of mismatch, but he is hopeful during the process of filing of claims, objections and corrections, these will be corrected. He roughly estimated that around 5 lakh anomalies might have crept in. Coming back to Mamata Banerjee, he said the names of 1.5 lakh applicants could not be on the second draft as the West Bengal government has been totally uncooperative in sending the documents back after verification.

Should not the Chief Minister of West Bengal own up responsibility for that instead of shedding crocodile tears for the left outs? As revealed by state NRC coordinator, only 5532 documents have been sent back by the West Bengal government. Pradip Dutta Roy complimented Silchar MLA Dilip Paul for giving a snub to a West Bengal police official who wanted to know if they could be of any help as the name of his wife Archana Paul is left out from the draft. He quoted Dilip Paul to say this is our matter and “We would solve it ourselves.”
