Former APSC member Doley arrested again

GUWAHATI, May 17: Former APSC member Basanta Doley was arrested again on Thursday, this time around in connection with appointment of Agriculture Development Officers (ADO) through selection by the APSC.

A case (159/17) was registered at Bhangagarh police station alleging cash changing hands in the selection of 27 ADOs by the APSC. A deprived candidate, Bedanta Bikash Das, lodged the case. The complainant alleged that former APSC chairman Rakesh Paul had demanded Rs 15 lakh for a post of ADO through brokers.

The written tests for the examination had been conducted in 2014 and the interviews were held in 2015. Forensic laboratory test reports revealed that all the 27 candidates had their marks enhanced in the answer scripts later, and the hand writings of the alteration marks matched with that of former APSC members. Earlier, Doley had been arrested in connection with a case in the cash-for-job scam. He was on bail in that case.
