Former BSS Kokrajhar district president's demise mourned

KOKRAHAR, April 28: Former president of Kokrajhar district Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS), Samal rzary of South Tengapara breathed his last on Monday. He died of heart attack. He was the Vice-Principal of Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary and Multi Purpose School. He leaves behind his wife Joymati rzary, two sons and a daughter. He was 48.

His body was taken to his birth place Ambari Sarubhera in Baksa district and to Kokrajhar at his South Tengapara residence on Tuesday morning. His body will be cremated on Wednesday after a rally in Kokrajhar town.

Born on April 1, 1967 at Ambari Sarubhera, now in Baksa district, Samal rzary was associated with Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and worked more than 12 years in different capacities. He was the president of Kokrajhar district BSS during 2004-2007. He was also associated with Bodo Writers’ Academy, Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma Trust and other social organizations. He was the Vice-Principal of Kokrajhar Government Higher Secondary and Multi Purpose School. He joined the school as Assistant Teacher on November 11, 1988. He was also a poet. He has a number of books to his credit.

Many Bodo leaders of various organizations expressed their grief at his untimely demise. Hundreds of well wishers, academicians, intellectuals, Principals of different educatiol institutions, lecturers, students, villagers, MLAs, BTC EMs and leaders of different organizations thronged at his Tengapara residence on Tuesday to offer floral tribute.

Former president of the BSS Brajendra Kr. Brahma said that rzary was one of the most relentless workers among the Bodos. “He always shouldered his responsibility while he was the leading the organization. The Bodos have lost an upcoming dymic leader,” said Brahma.

MLA Pramila Rani Brahma said that rzary did much for the Bodo community. The president of Kokrajhar district BSS, Dhajendra th Brahma said rzary’s untimely death was a loss to the Bodo society as he was one of the most challenging leaders with relentless efforts. He said rzary had been with the BSS for over 12 years in different capacities and was also associated with other wings of the BSS.

Former president of the All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS), Ranjit Kr. Borgoyary, BTC EM of Sports and Youth Welfare and Town and Country Planning, Doneswar Goyary, general secretary of the Dularai Boro Harimu Afat (DBHA), Jogeswar Brahma, president of Kokrjahar district All Bathou Religious Union, Tikendra Basumatary,  former treasurer of BSS, leaders of Kokrajhar district BSS, ABSU, ABWWF, DBHA, BIGA and others offered floral tribute.
