Former CM Jarbom Gamlin remembered

Itagar, Dec 1: Rich floral tributes were paid to former chief minister Jarbom Gamlin on his first death anniversary at Aalo in West Siang district on Monday. A sea of people comprising relatives, friends and well-wishers from across the state and outside congregated at Yeggo, residence of Gamlin. A two minute silence was observed by the gathering as a mark of respect. A short film on the life of Gamlin from his Sainik School days to the post of chief minister was screened amid tears from onlookers, an official communiqué said here today. Former MLA Larbin si, AAPSU president Kamta Lapung, PHED chief engineer Tagong Ketan paid floral tributes and shared their fond memories with Gamlin, among host of other dignitaries. Among the family members, his younger brother Major General Jarken Gamlin, his elder brother MLA Jarkar Gamlin and former PHED secretary Er Tomi Ete spoke in detail about life and journey of Jarbom and termed him as a multifaceted persolity who worked for the cause of others right from his school days and immensely contributed to the growth 27th Liromoba assembly constituency in particular and state in general in the capacity of MLA, MP, minister and chief minister. West Siang deputy commissioner Pige Ligu, army officers from 5 Mtn Brigade and his mother Gamde Ete Gamlin were among the mourners, the communiqué added.
