Former JHADC member joins NPP

Shillong, Oct 26: Even as the 2018 Meghalaya Assembly elections draw near, all roads now seem to lead to the tiol People’s Party (NPP).

Amidst reports of some senior Congress heavyweights joining or deciding to join the party, former Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) member Hilarius Dkhar formally joined the NPP at a programme at the party office here on Thursday. The programme was attended by NPP State president Dr WR Kharluki, NPP Jaintia Hills district unit president Octomewot Lamin, MLA James Sangma, Wailad Miki Shylla and other party functiories.

Kharluki welcomed Hilarius to the NPP and handed him over the letter of appointment as working president of the party’s Jaintia Hills district unit.

Speaking on the occasion, Kharluki informed the gathering that former Minister Oliver Neat and former Congress Shillong City unit president Prof Don Kupar War had joined the NPP.

In his speech, Diverland Lyngdoh spoke about his close association with Hilarius Dkhar and how he was looking forward to working together with him.

James K Sangma said he was very happy to welcome Hilarius Dkhar into the NPP and expressed his hope and confidence in the leadership qualities of the latter that would help the party grow not just in Jaintia Hills but in the entire State. He also thanked Hilarius for the faith he had reposed on the leadership of NPP tiol president Conrad Sangma.

James also extended his warm welcome to ON Shyrmang and Prof Don Kupar War, both of whom had recently joined the NPP.

On his part, Hilarius Dkhar thanked the NPP for the felicitation and for the faith shown in him. He assured the gathering that he would work with sincerity and dedication for the growth of the NPP in the State.
