Former MLA jmul Hoque passes away

Goalpara, July 17: Popular communist leader and two-time MLA from West Goalpara LAC, jmul Hoque died on Sunday in his residence. He was suffering from old-age ailments. jmul Hoque represented the constituency during 1978 and 1991 as an independent candidate backed by communist organization SUCI. Immensely popular for his non-corrupt  image and active social participation , jmul Hoque left a huge void in the entire political scerio of  Lower Assam. As the news of his passing away spread, thousands of his fans and followers gathered on Sunday at his Ambari residence and paid last tribute. Advocate Jiten Das, president district AGP, Haji Abu Sayed, president district Congress, Sahabuddin Ahmed, MLA Jaleswar LAC, Anisul Hoque, Goalpara town president, AAMSU have condoled his death. Hoque’s mortal remains were later laid to rest near his residence on public demand instead of the local graveyard. The present Congress MLA of West Goalpara LAC and chairman, Minorities Development Board, Assam, Alhaj Abdur Rasid Mondal has expressed his deep condolence at the demise of jmul Hoque. Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Goalpara East LAC, AK Rasid Alom, BJP MLA from Dudhnoi ST LAC, Dipak Rabha and AIUDF MLA from Jaleswar LAC, Sahabuddin Ahmed have also expressed grief over the demise of the communist leader.
