Former MP demands NIA probe into Kokrajhar attack

KOKRAJHAR, August 10: The World Bodo tiol Confederation and Bodo People’s Confederation of Assam has condemned the dreadful attack on innocent people at Balajan Tiniali in Kokrajhar on August 5 which claimed lives of 14 people and injured 16 others.

The president of the World Bodo tiol Confederation and former MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthairy in a press statement on Wednesday said the terror attack could have either been done by some heartless terrorist elements or by sophisticated planted agents. He said such diabolic and pre-planned terror attack on innocent people was condemble from all circles.

He also said the attack at Balajan Tiniali market could be the handiwork of either terrorist elements or by planted agent-provocateurs.  He questioned as to why the security check installed earlier on the JD Road at Balajan Tiniali Chowk was withdrawn on the eve of Independence Day, that too, in the midst of intelligence input on the probability of occurrence of some untoward violence within Kokrajhar district was had been focused through media earlier.

Bwiswmuthiary said the State Government and Union Government should take proactive action to identify the actual culprits and bring them to justice. The World Bodo tiol Confederation also demanded that the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister should entrust the NIA to probe the terror attack in Kokrajhar to identify the actual culprits so that the real perpetrators cannot escape.
