Former Principal Tezpur College no more

TEZPUR, March 31: Noted educationist and retired Principal of Tezpur College, Jugendrath Chowdhury, passed away at his Tezpur Komargaon residence around 7.30 this morning following prolonged illness. Former head of the Department of English in Tezpur College, Chowdhury was also a noted columnist who had written many a thought-provoking article in most of the frontline dailies of the State, touching upon relevant social issues. Born on September 1, 1944, in North Guwahati, he adorned the chair of the Principal of the college from November 1998 to September 2004, before retiring on August 31, 2004. He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter. His death has been widely mourned.
