Former rebels cry foul

 From Staff Correspondent

Shillong, Aug 10: Altogether, 139 cadres of the now disbanded Achik tiol Volunteer Council (ANVC) are set to receive the monetary package from the government, but the ANVC(B) leadership still have raised strong objections about its omission from the list, including its former general secretary,  commander-in-chief, organising secretary, etc. The ANVC(B) leaders were not included in the first list.
The ANVC(B) leadership is now wondering whether the mes will be included in the second list at all.
Informing newsmen that disbanded leadership had immediately submitted the account numbers of all whose account numbers were available with them, outfit’s leader Deepan G Momin said “We insisted that package be made Rs 2.5 lakh as was agreed by the government representatives before disbanding in December 2014, instead of being offered Rs 1.5 lakh”.
The disbanded militant outfit leader accused former Director General of Police SK Jain of being biased against them and that his alleged wrong doings are affecting the implementation of the agreement and disbursing the rehabilitation packages for the cadres.
“No matter what he did, we are sincere about the signed agreement and whatever mess he did against us, we will bear with full cooperation so that the agreement does not fail in any way,” Momin added.
