Forward Block’s agitation for fresh probe into Netaji

Special Correspondent

Silchar, January 19: As a part of the 10 day long agitation across the country, All India Forward Block of Assam today held protest demonstration and its workers and supporters courted arrest en–mass for jail in support of its 4 point charter of demands. The Barak Valley Zol Committee also joined the chorus of protest before the Head Post Offices of the three district headquarters of Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi.

Mihir ndi, General Secretary, All India Forward Block, Barak Valley Zol Committee, said during the regime of UPA Government, along with their party, BJP too demanded that January 23 be declared as ‘Desh–Prem Divas’ and also supported their other 3 demands. Now that BJP led NDA Government is in power at the Centre, it turally behoves on their part to keep its words and do justice to Netaji. It was really strange that both Congress and BJP should maintain intriguing silence which looks quite enigmatic. BJP should now come forward and honour its commitment made to the people of the country to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Netaji.

Mihir ndi further said the demonstration has been held before the head post office, being a central government establishment, and it is the right place to express our anger and resentment against its anti–Netaji policy. Other leaders on the front were Fidel Choudhury, Noor Ahmed, Bharati Sinha, Chanda di, Dulal Mitra, Samiran Acharjee and Haider Hussain Choudhury led the agitation. In fact, the left–combined supported the protest demonstration.

Another demand is for making public all the documents and files related to Netaji and his Azad Hind Fauz. Voice is also raised for erecting a monument in from of Red Fort of Delhi to commemorate the supreme sacrifices and self–renunciation of Azad Hind Fauz and its brave soldiers who lay ‘unheard, unsung and unhonoured’. Apart from that, the demand has also been raised for constituting a new Inquiry Commission to probe the mysterious disappearance of Netaji.
