Foundation stone of Linke Hoffman Busch refurbishing coaches shop laid in New Bongaigaon

Bongaigaon: Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain laid the foundation stone of the refurbishing shop of Linke Hoffman Busch (LHB) coaches on Monday in New Bongaigaon.

Addressing the gathering, Gohain said that LHB coaches had superior safety features. “The periodic maintenance and upgradation of these coaches are needed. New Bongaigaon Railway workshop has been nominated by Railway board for undertaking such work of LHB coaches of NF Railway and other adjacent Zonal Railways.

Hence the board has sanctioned an amount of Rs 90 crore during the current year to establish this LHB refurbishing shop in New Bongaigaon workshop. The work has been taken up with an estimated expenditure of Rs 106 crore.

This will be executed by M/S Rites, New Delhi,” he said. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken several projects for the development of the Northeast and this was one of them. Several noted persons, including Sanjiv Rai, General Manager of N F Railway, Ravilesh Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager of Rangiya division, Adil Khan, Bongaigaon DC, Subodh Sonowal, Bongaigaon SP, and many Railway officers were present on the occasion.
