SHILLONG, April 9: Four persons died and seven others injured in Ri-Bhoi district when the vehicle they were travelling in hit a truck on Monday morning. The incident occurred at the Mawpun village in Umroi on the Shillong bypass.  All the dead were travelling in a Sumo vehicle (ML 11 5377) and the Ashok Leyland truck involved in the accident has its registration number NL 01 AA 5835. The sumo (tourist vehicle) was proceeding from the Jaintia Hills towards Guwahati when the passengers met with the tragic incident. The four persons who have lost their lives in the accident have been identified as Kingson Selehe (30) from East Jaintia Hills, Noni Borah (24), Niti Jontimai Koch (50) and Nitu Moni Borah (17), who hailed from Assam. The injured have been identified as Rohit Giri, Gautam Kumar, Bhanu Dey Talukdar, a minor Twinkle Bora, Ram Patro Santosh Kr Yadap and KS Raghu. The injured persons have been shifted to various hospitals in Shilong, including zareth, Civil Hospital and NEIGRIMS. The bodies were sent to Nongpoh Civil Hospital for the post-mortem.
