DOKMOKA case

GUWAHATI, June 12: Karbi Anglong police have arrested four more persons in the lynching of Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath at Panjuri near Kathilangso waterfall under Dokmoka police station, and with this the total number of people arrested in that connection has gone to 27. Five others have also been arrested for engaging themselves in the hate campaign through the social media and making the video of the killing viral.

Search is on for more people involved in the killing. Talking to The Sentinel, Karbi Anglong SP Dr. GV Siva Prasad said: “We’ve taken the case seriously. So far, we’ve arrested 27 people in the killing case. Search is on to arrest more people involved in the killing. We’re trying to fast-tracking the case in the court.”

The mob was 200 strong. The problem for the police to arrest them is that all youths of Panjuri have fled their village. The police have engaged some sources to track them.

Meanwhile, Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang announced Rs 5 lakh each as ex gratia to the next of kin of Nilotpal Das and Abhijeet Nath, besides erecting their statues at Panjuri.
