Four rhino poachers arrested

NAGAON, May 20: Jakhalabandha Police led by OC Deben Borah and DSP Padma Pegu on Saturday apprehended a gang of four rhino poachers from Guwahati-Jorabat and Satgaon respectively. According to police sources, the poachers have been identified as Biaklal, Liankhansuan of New Lamka, Jumlun and James Liankhanmung of Bukti in Cherachundpur district of Manipur. The police, on the basis of their statements, subsequently recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the Nagaon-Karbi Anglong border area. The sources added further that among the arms and ammunition were two AK rifles, six magazines and more than 200 rounds live bullets. The gang was involved in rhino poaching in KNP.
