Fourth annual general meeting of Photography Club of Assam held

GUWAHATI, April 25: Annual General Meeting of Photography Club of Assam (PCA) was organized today in Gauhati Artists’ Guild’s auditorium. Club’s honorary chairman Bidya Sagar Baruah presided over the meeting. Secretary of Home department Sanjib Gohain Boruah, renowned photographer Jayanta Dutta, Debraj Chakraborty and Ashok Kumar Das, ranger of Pobitora WLS took part in the event, a press release said.

This annual general meeting was conducted to showcase the Activity & Achievement, Placement of Accounts for the fincial year 2015-16; Formation of New Committee and to set the Plan and Proposal for 2016-17. Some of the PCA members were also presented with their awards and recognitions in the event, the release added.

It further stated that Photography Club of Assam, founded in 2012 is a pioneer photo club in Assam with recognition from Photographic Society of America (PSA) and Federation of Indian Photography (FIP). With close to 50000 online members, in the past years PCA has organised numerous Photography Exhibitions, Educatiol Workshops, Online Contests, Open Air Mentored Photoshoot (Photo Walks) and Photography Huddle (Photo Adda) in order to spread awareness and encourage budding photographers. The vision and mission of PCA is “Protect Preserve and Promote”. Through photography awareness PCA also aims in cultural, social and environmental awareness among the members and people of Assam.

In the year 2015-16 PCA was able to secure 3rd position in 30th FIP Interclub Contest. Also PCA has successfully conducted its first tiol Digital Salon, Pohar III last year. PCA members who have Artiste FIAP or Excellence FIAP distinctions are mely Arup Bhattacharjee, Ashok Kumar Das, Bidya Sagar Baruah, Ratjit Choudhury, Subhadip Choudhury and Vikramjit Kakati, the release said.

In today’s event PCA has announced that in the year 2016-17 it is going to conduct its first Intertiol Salon. In an effort to encourage club members towards taking photography as a profession, PCA is going to launch its online photo archive this year; where members will be able to showcase their work for commercial requirements. This archive is expected to provide resources to the News Industry, Advertising Industry, Research Scholars with their work. It is also going to launch a web and social media based photography learning system which will be made available to general public.

The executive committee of PCA for 2016-17 has also been constituted in the annual general meeting. Executive committee is headed by Debasis Gogoi (Founder PCA) as president, Arpan Kalita as working vice president, Himangshu Lahkar as general secretary, Binoy Bikash Gogoi as treasurer, Kuntala Roychoudhury & Himanka B Deka as joint secretaries and Ra Konwar, Anup Kumar Das, Uma Sankar Das, Neeraj K Phookan as executive members, the release added.
