Fraud arrested from Darrang District

GUWAHATI: A fraud, who had been fleeing since 2014, was arrested on Monday night from Darrang district. Bapukon Nath of Noonmati did open a society – Dinobandhu Socio-Economic Welfare Society – at Noonmati in Guwahati. He collected around Rs 1.13 crore from 345 customers with the promise of high returns. He had been fleeing since 2014 not being able to repay the money to those who deposited it. A case (769/18 under section 402, 406) was registered against him in 2018. Acting on the case, Noonmati police arrested Nath from Patgiri Chupa near Sipajhar in Darrang district on Monday night.
