Free seeds distributed by SSB to farmers

KOKRAJHAR, May 4: A three-days programme on the distribution of seeds to farmers was organized in the border areas along Indo-Bhutan border by the 16th Bn SSB of Ranighuli, Kokrajhar on May 1 to May 3 in order to benefit the needy farmers of border areas of Kokrajhar and Chirang districts. The  seeds were distributed to the farmers at Dadgiri and harani in Chirang and Saralpara and Sashipur in Kokrajhar district.

Seeds worth Rs 50,000 were distributed to the farmers in the border villages. The seed distribution was held at Dadgiri and Tukrabasti areas on May 1. The seeds were given away by Sukmaya Lama, a local social worker of Dadrigi. On May 2, the seeds were distributed at Saralpara and harani in Kokrajhar district where the DIG of SSB, Sector Head Quarter Amit Kumar attended as the chief guest and gave away the seeds to farmers. In Saralpara, the seeds were distributed by the village head man of Saralpara Monorath Sharma. On May 3, the seeds were distributed to farmers at Sashipur area.

In the distribution programme, other important social issues were also discussed such as stopping of human trafficking in the border areas and generous dotion for the earthquake victims in Nepal were received.

 Commandant of the SSB, 16th Bn. AKC Sing and local intellectuals spoke on the subject of child education, to stop child labor, right to education and other social issues.

A sum of Rs. 54,000 was doted collectively by the villagers of Saralpara, Sashipur, Dadgiri and nearby areas for the victims of the Nepal earthquake and Rs 1, 20,000 was also doted by all ranks of this unit to purchase materials like blankets, bed sheets, rice, and other essential items for the victims of the earthquake.
