Freedom fighter Bipin Chakraborty's death anniversary at Bilasipara

BILASIPARA, Dec 29: Under the aegis of Bepin Chakraborty Memorial Celebration Committee, the 21st  death anniversary of Bepin Chakraborty , a fearless jourlist, freedom fighter  and trade union leader  was observed in Dhubri in the premises of  Kalibari complex with a two-day programme recently.

The iugural meeting was held on December 26 with Mumari Mohan Sarker, former District and Session Judge in the chair. Giasuddin Ahmed, former Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly  and chief guest of the programme, garlanded the portrait of Bepin Chakraborty. Dilip Chakraborty, son of Bepin Chakraborty as well as the secretary of the celebration committee, explained the aims and objectives of the meeting. Among others the meeting was addressed by Giasuddin Ahmed, Nripen Ghose, Prof Debendra th Sarma and  Mril Kanti g,  former Additiol Deputy Commissioner, Dhubri.

The speakers while addressing the meeting , highlighted the  contribution of Chakraborty in the field of jourlism, trade union movement and his dedication as freedom fighter . Dayal Paul, working president of the celebration committee offered the vote of thanks. Thereafter, a cultural function was held.

On the next day in the morning a semir on the topic ‘Economic inequality in India: Causes and Remedies’ with  Murari Mohan Sarker as moderator. Arun Chakraborty of Kolkata, Mril Kanti g, Debendra th Sarma and Mantu Das of Tripura spoke on the subject as resource persons.

Thereafter, a  multilingual poet’s meet  was held where a large number of  poets read out their self-composed poems. Art competition among the school students was also held.

In the evening  a valedictory function was held with Murari Mohan Sarker in the chair. In the meeting few  persolities  who have contributed in the field of jourlism, trade union movement were felicitated  with phoolam gamocha, xarai, packet of books and certificate. Dilip Kumar Chakraborty offered the vote of thanks.
