Furore over death of student, irate mob vandalizes police outpost

GAON (HAIBORGAON), February 2: Sensation prevailed in the  Kathiatoli area when an irate mob on Thursday morning went on a rampage and vandalized Kathiatoli Police outpost following the death of a Class VIII student of Rangbeng Tribal School. The mob also entered the outpost campus and tried to break the windows and doors of the police outpost.

But soon after the incident, the higher authority of the district police rushed to the spot and maged to bring the situation under control. The top officials of district police assured the irate mob that the police would leave no stones unturned to apprehend the culprits who were behind the death of the student.

According to the sources, the deceased student, Bidya Sing Ingti along with his friends had a feast on January 26 and during the feast, two of his friends hit him over a trifle issue which caused him serious injury. His family immediately admitted him in gaon BP Civil Hospital the same night and since then he was under treatment in the hospital. But unfortutely, on Wednesday night the injured student breathed his last in the hospital and on Thursday morning, an irate mob of the Kothiatoli area rushed to the Kathiatoli OP and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.

The angry mob staged a protest and also vandalized the police outpost.  But after senior police officers assured that the culprits would be brought to book, the mob dispersed. On the other hand, the police, on the basis of the statement of the deceased’s family, suspect Dhanmoni Saikia and Abhijit Borah to be the prime accused. Both are absconding since the incident.
