ga miscreants destroy rubber farms in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, April 22: At a time when the Assam Government is holding peace festivals to restore peace, amity and harmony in the bordering areas of neighbouring State galand, miscreants from the ga State still continue their aggressive steps on Assam land. Incidents like blank firing, cutting tress and burning sheds or houses are occurring frequently, prompted by land grabbing motive of the gas are creating panic among the people of Assam living in the border areas.

In such an incident, unidentified ga miscreants on Tuesday torched one shed and damaged tea bushes and rubber plantations at Borsillah under Halwating Police Station in Sivasagar district, sparking fresh tension along the border area.

According to sources, a gang of 15-20 miscreants from galand, equipped with arms and sharp weapons, started slashing and uprooting tea bushes of small tea grower Ajay Baruah. They also cut 700 rubber plantations which were scattered near the tea garden along the Assam-galand border. While fleeing back to their own land, the ga miscreants torched three rest sheds of the workers. Sources further added that the ga miscreants crossed the boundary into Borsillah with a pre-planned intention to create panic and not to kill anybody.
