SORI, April 21: One person from Sori in Sivsagar district was killed and another one received bullet injury when unidentified armed miscreants attacked them at Mon district in galand on Monday. The slain person has been identified as Arpan Das  of Tiok Rajbari village under Sori police station in Sivasagar district while the injured person is Baba Konwar.  Sources said the incident occurred when three ga people at around 5.30 pm on Monday hired a Tata Indigo (No-As-04, M-6626) at Sori for going to Mon in galand but when they reached Oting village, around six kilometers from Mon, one of the three passenger wanted to drive the vehicle. But when Arpan Das, the driver of the vehicle, refused to allow the passenger to drive , he was beaten up badly by them and subsequently they opened fire. Baba , who was injured in the firing, maged to escape from the spot and spent night in the jungle. Sori Police, who on the basis of Baba Konwar’s information, launched operations today with the help of galand police, recovered the bullet- ridden body of driver Arpan from Oting village in galand. Police , however, could not recover the Indigo hired by the passengers.    galand police have registered a case in this connection.
